Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Hello,
I hope that I can gain either clarity or guidance from you regarding my question:
I work for an advertising agency and my employers are demanding that I persoanally be financiall responsible for a portion of unpaid client debts. I believe that this can most easily be equated to a restaurant requiring a server to pay for a patron walking a dinner bill. Is this legal and if not, where might I find a law proving so?
Thank you so much for any help or direction on this matter.

Your analogy is nearly on point. Your employer's policy is not enforceable unless there is an agreement where you are the guarantor for unpaid invoices billed to a client.
