Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I was hired back in 2000 for customer support and trouble shooting. Now I am being told to sell and if I dont achieve goals I will be written up. Is it legal to change a job title on someone without any paperwork or acceptance?

There is nothing illegal about changing a job's responsibilities. However, such a substantial change of responsibilities might be treated as a constructive discharge. That is, the company will probably not be able to prevent you from collecting unemployment benefits if you are fired because you decline to perform the new duties. All that assumes that you don't have a written contract that would spell out your responsibilites and the employer's obligations. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
