Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Hostile work enviorment
I am currently working for a staffing agency. I am assigned for a small local business. The owners of the business I am assigned use profanity in the office and have me typing profane remarks in their employees files. Upon my assignment we sat down and they told me that they were ''worried'' about hiring me because I had children and would probably take time off. I spoke to them and have been working here for 2 months. My time is coming where they would have to hire me permanately and yesterday they called me in the office and preceded to tell me that I have too much in my personal life and Im taking advantage of them by not focusing on my job. All along I have been praised as over qualified and great until now. In the meeting they pointed out issues that I didnt know about and used my family and reason that they are worried about my focus. My boss told me that maybe I should consider that I have kids and cant handle working full time. I have not called out, left early or anything due to my children. With the profanity, sexism, agism and everything Ive heard here do I have any course of action against this company? Ive been working in an harrassing and discrimintory enviorment.

It does sound like you may have a case. Either go see an employment lawyer for a consultation or contact the EEOC or NJ Division on Civil Rights. I would recommend at least a one hour consultation with an employment attorney before you take any steps because you need to know what your rights are and what you need to do right now to proctect yourself.
