Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I joined a company which trained me for 2 months in .Net and one of the contract stated if i took training from them, i need to stay with them for 2 Years, if i leave before 1 year, i have to pay them "Some Amount" and if i leave after one year i have to pay less. I wanted to know does the contract hold and do i have to pay if i leave the company, because i heard in New Jersey, USA there is nothing like contracts or anything, its the employee wish to leave when needed. Please help me in this regard.

Yes, "there are contracts" in NJ and The USA. And, an employment contract is, for the most part, just as enforceable as any other kind of contract. Whether this contract is enforceable requires further analysis and cannot be determined from your email. Even if it is enforceable, it is unlikely that a court would order you to work for the employer---and, as a practical matter, the employer probably won't want you to continue working---but you could be required to pay the specified amount or make the employer whole for the losses it suffers from your breaking the contract.
