Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Help in getting into Law Enforcement

After winning an appeal for a disqualification to become a police officer. Today I received a letter stating that the city in which I hope to work for is filing for exceptions due to descrepencies in information submitted to the city and state recommended doctors, regarding past employment and credit issues. Being that I was cleared in this part of the process with the dept. because I was at the last step of the process in getting hired before the initial doctor failed me, How do I proceed? or better yet, what advise can an attorney give me in such matter? PLEASE! someone give me some advise in the event NJDOP agrees with this exception, thanks.

Re: Help in getting into Law Enforcement

A filing for exceptions generally means that the City attorney is seeking to over turn the appeal by asking the hearing officer to reconsider the decision. You usually have a VERY short time period to respond. If you have an attorney who handled the appeal for you, then you ought to make sure he/she writes a response. If you don't have an attorney, but are looking for one, then you can contact me or any member of the NJ Branch of the National Employment Laywers Association (NELA). You can find a list of recommended attorneys at the website by looking at the memu on the left side that contains the words: "Find a Lawyer".
