Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Is it legal for an employer to demote a worker because she did not want another promotion? Also, is a business such as a restaurant allowed to force (by threatening employment termination) waitstaff to declare more money, like tips, than they are actually earning to the IRS.

With regard to the demotion, I would like more information before I answer this question.
With regard to the tax issue, it sounds as though your employer has instructed you to file a force claim with the IRS. This is illegal.
