Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
I lived and worked in another state and accepted a new job in NJ. I accepted the job rented a house and moved, but the job turned out to be different then what I was told during the interview. After discussions with the owner I told him I was going to look for another job, 2 months later he calls me into his office(I was under going tests for a medical condition that at that time I was told 2 of 3 options would require surgery) and asks me to sign a paper. I asked if he was letting me go, he said yes, I told him I would file for unemployment, he said ok, but then contested it. I was turned down, appealed and turned down again. During the employer interview he told the examiner I had medical issues.Do I have any options

Solely based on what you stated in your question, it looks like you should not have been turned down for unemployment benefits and you do have a case for unlawful discrimination. It appears that the problem that you are having with the unemployment board is a good case presentation. I have handled such a situation in my State. I strongly recommend that you see an employment law attorney. There are many in your area that offer a free initial consultation.
