Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Mandatory day off

Is it legal for an employer to make employees take every Friday off without pay? Due to the economy our company is facing these issues. We would still like to pay employees heath insurance, can we do this eventhough they are not full time? What is considered full time hours and what is part time hours?

Re: Mandatory day off

Assuming that there is no contract at issue, an employer can set work hours for less than a 40 hour work week. The criteria for health insurance is more a matter for your insurer. If you are willing to pay and there is nothing in your policy to say otherwise, why not?
