Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I am a manufacture representative that travels all over NJ and PA. I was involved in a traffic accident in September while driving a company vehicle. Since the accident the VP of human resources has put me on 6 month probation and I will be reevaluated at the end of my probation . In the mean time she has hired a close relative to work in my territory. I think she is trying in the worst way to get her relative in and me out. I think that after my 6 months is up. I will be gone. Can I be terminated for no reason?

New Jersey is an "employment-at-will" state, which means that both the employer and the employee can end the relationship at any time, for any reason or for no reason. However, the employer cannot terminate an employee for reasons that are against the law or public policy (such as due to race, religion, gender, age, etc.). Against public policy also includes termination because an employee files a workers compensation claim. You do not say whether the auto accident occured while you were working (instead of doing personal activities) and if so, whether you filed a WC claim. You should consult with an attorney who is experienced in these matters who can advise you on the best course of action. In any event, unless and until you are termianted, you likely do not have any cause of action as you have not suffered a loss.
