New Jersey is an employment-at-will state, which means that both the employer and the employee can terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any or no reason, except when the reason for termination violates federal or state civil rights statutes or is against public policy (e.g. for filing a workers compensation claim or "whistle blowing"). In order to fully answer your question, I would need to know more of the facts surrounding your termination. Feel free to call my office to schedule a consultation.
