being offered a lower postion with lower pay
I work in a medical office and i am the office admin. I was just informed that they are spilting my job in half they offered me a lower position with lower pay I am wondering if they can do that. If I don't take the offer I was offered a servance package

A company can demote or reduce the pay of an employee for a legitimate business reason, such as business being slow. However, if the employer was motivated by harassment, discrimination and/or retaliation in deciding to give the employee a demotion and pay cut, then it may be against the law.
