Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Pregnant and Fired, Now a warrant for arrest, Please Help

I am currently in my 5th month of pregnancy and worked for a subcontractor for Comcast. I have worked for them since the beginning to 2006 as an administrator assitant covering numerous duties, from human resources to most recently proofreading and submitting timesheets to be paid to employees. About a month ago I informed my employer of my pregnancy and within two weeks I was fired. They informed me that ''I was stealing money from the company in 2006, since I was working overtime without my supervisor's approval. Please note that they were short staffed and asked me do extra hours to complete assignments at hand. They never brought this to my attention until two weeks ago, the day they fired me. Now I am sitting at home 5 months pregnant and thinking my fiancee and I will just survive off his income. This morning I received in the mail a warrant for my arrest with a $10,000 bail. When I called the issuing Police department, they informed me that it came from my previous employer due to me ''stealing in 2006''. Please can someone assist me with this? I did nothing wrong but help my employer when they were short staffed, now I am being penalized for this and what about my pregnancy? Any advice will be helpful.

Get started with the criminal matter first. The investigation that your lawyer will need to do in order to defend you in that matter will pull out some of the details that will be needed to see if you have a civil cause of action. There is likely to be a discrimination case here and possibly an action based on one or more specific statutes.

If you don't have a lawyer in mind for the criminal case, I can recommend one. As for the civil action, My firm handles matters of this type. If I can be of further help to you, call or email.
