Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
I have a question about temporary workers. A relative of mine in New Jersey who is a consultant was hired by a firm as a temporary employee. He signed temporary employee agreement and was told that he would start on January 4. At the last minute, the firm withdrew their request for a temp and the job fell through. What, if any, are his rights under New Jersey law to seek legal recourse and collect unemployment. He has been out of work for a number of months, and obviously stopped looking when he was told he had this job.

In a nutshell, he has no legal recourse under the situation you describe and should re-apply for unemployment benefits and re-start his job search. The situation you describe is very common and even more so in today's job market. Beast wishes.
