Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
I was recently employed at Kmart I told them I had convictions and they gave me the job and here it is three weeks later they fired me saying that my background check came back bad. I need some input on this matter if possible.

N.J. employers are free terminate an employee based on a prior criminal conviction. Perhaps the prior criminal conviction is simply a pretext for unlawful employment discrimination assuming that you gave full disclosure prior to them hiring you. In any event, request a written confirmation that should include the source used to confirm your background.
