Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
If I request a personal day at work, do I legally have to tell the boss why I am using a personal day?
This would be my 2nd request for a personal day since the beginning of my employment (9/2/08).
Both times I was forced to tell the boss why I wanted to use it. Is there a concrete law or does it depend on the company? There is no policy stating that I must explain why I request a personal day.

This is a matter of company policy, not a legal issue. Your company can require a reason before granting you time off - either paid or unpaid. If you are comfortable doing so, you should talk to Human Resources about the company policy in this situation.
