Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Restrictive Covenant contract
I left my job 2 1/2 weeks ago to go to a different company. Instead of mailing me my final check they sent me a Termination Certificate to sign before they send me my check. First, i was not terminated, I quit. Second, the Termination certificate is actually a Restrictive covenant contract. Do I have to sign this? What are my rights?

Re: Restrictive Covenant contract
I would need you to come into my office and show me the document to be able to give you advice. But based on the limited facts you have presented, it sounds like you do not have to sign to get your check. If you work in NJ, and do not wish to have a consultation with an attorney on this, then I would recommend that you contact the NJ Dept. of Labor, Wage and Hour Div. and tell them your story.
