Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Suspected discrimination

4 professionals in my dept., all over the age of 50, have been rated ''partially meets expectations.'' including myself. The other 2 individuals, newer and younger, received a rating of ''fully meets expectations.''

In Feb. 2008 I received a rating of exceeds expectations.

A new director was assigned to our team in April 2008 and a new Mgr. in Aug. 2008. Now out of a dept. of 6, 4 are rated at this lower rating. I suspect that this is a ploy by the management to force the older emps. out to make room for a younger and less ''expensive'' team.

We work for a company that employs approx. 11,000 people in the state of NJ.

Please offer some advice.

Thank you.

Re: Suspected discrimination

This could be a case of age discrimination, and the law in NJ is tougher on employers. You and your co-workers should schedule a time to come to our office to discuss your options and/or recovery.
