Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Terminated due to picking errors

Fired due to picking errors. There is no way to definitively substantiate that all picking errors if any were due to my negligence. After I pick the part there may be anywhere between 2 to 5 people handling my orders before they go out the door. At any point from time of staging, parts/orders can be mishandled by others with malice intent or carelessness in a manner to generate errors. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Terminated due to picking errors

New Jersey is an "employment-at-will" state, meaning that either an employer or employee may end employment at any time, without reason or notice. Therefore, legally, it doesn't matter if they were correct in firing you for picking errors or not.

If you believe your employment was terminated for reasons that constitute unlawful discrimination, harassment, or retaliation then contact an employment attorney or contact the Division on Civil Rights by visiting their website at www.nj.gov/oag/dcr.
