Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Termination

I answered an ad in a local paper for a parts manager Dec. 2007, after 3 interviews each lasting an hour or better and several phone calls, I was hired 2-25-2008 because I was just what they were looking for, after only 3 weeks I was called in and told they had made a mistake creating the position and would have to let me go.

Is this illegal or just irresponsible.

There is not much that you can do about your employer's poor business planning. However, if there is a written offer that promises a term of employment, you may have enforceable rights. The same would be true if you had to relocate or if you incurred substantial expenses when you changed jobs.
