Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Told position was no longer available.
I was employed as the Director of Operations for a company which provides advanced driver training to corporate drivers .
When I was hired the company had no office policies or procedurers, job discriptions, or corporate chain of command. I was also told that employees were out of control with unauthorized time off.
After 18 months, with all procedures, etc. in place I was told that the President was going to resume duties and that I was to hard on one of the employees. I had just received a $5000.00 raise four weeks before.
The president of the company called me and told me that I did a great job and that he would give a good reference.
I now find out that another person was hired.(Younger, less salary) to fill my position. Also, we had a profit sharing plan and I know I would be entitled to only 20 %, but I never received any notice. I beleive I was told the position was not available, so that they Could hire someone at a lesser salary who was younger.(I was always being told by the staff that I was mean to them because they were younger). I never paid any attention to this before...Now ???? Is this reverse discrimination?? ( I am 60 years of age)

It definitely sounds from these facts as if you have been discriminated against based upon your age. Even more compelling, New Jersey's age discrimination laws are much tougher on employers than other states. You should e-mail our offices or give me a call on my direct line below.
