Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I transfered my H1 to company(A) in Feb 2008. A was sold to another company(B) in June 2008. My project at client place ended in Aug 2008. I went to India in Sep 2008. B missed my payment of salary(around $2500) for the period Aug 15th to Aug 31st of 2008. From India I constantly checked with company B to place me in a project, which they were unable to do. I got a project through a middle vendor in Aug 2009. This brought me to US again in Aug 2009, when B forced me to sign a contract titled "Time Sheet Agreement" which covers terms saying I have to pay any non-payment from client. In April 2009 I transfered my H1 to another company without prior notice. This was becoz thr were 3 layers( Main Vendor, Middle Vendor and B). Middle vendor not paying B for Jan & Feb & B threatening to sue me

There are at least two issues here. First, if I understand the facts, the middle vendor has not contract with you. Therefore, they are not likely to prevail in a suit against you. Secondly, the contract from the contractor who holds your H1 is arguably a violation of the law because that company is supposed to have work for you. /p/ See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
