Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
unemployment insurance benefits
My stepson had worked as a land surveyor at the same company for the last five years. As the economy has gotten worse , he was given less and less work each week. He has not worked now since prior to Jan. 1 , and his employer sent him text messages every day not to come in because there was no work. In addition , his health insurance was terminated by the employer. He has filed an unemployment claim with the state , but has been denied benefits. His employer states that he was not let go , but that he quit. Apparently this employer has done the same thing with other employees when they applied for unemployment . My stepson applied for unemployment because he needed to pay bills and figured when work picked up , he'd be called back. What is the best way to appeal his claim for unemployment benefits?

He is entitled to be represented by an attorney during the appeal process. My firm handles matters of this type.
