Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

at work threat

I recently complained about a supervisor to another employee about how i was being micromanaged (after work hours, from my hotel room). That employee then called the supervisor and threatened her by saying 'you better watch your step'. He also included my name in the treat saying he was doing it on my behalf. He did not speak for me and I made that clear to my supervisor, however I am being terminated regardless. Do they have a valid reason to terminate me?

Re: at work threat

Unfortnately, if you are an at will employee (and most non-union individuals in the private sector are), then a company does not need a valid reason to terminate an employee. The employer can terminate an employee for any reason or even no reason. There are exceptions to this general rule and I suggest that you explore those reasons by consulting with an employment attorney.
