Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I am working as an accountant assistant at a bank. My supervisor has sexually harrassed me, which I very politely turned down in the early months of me working there. She now is training a new young man with whom she "trash talks" with about me right in front of my face and also with other co-workers. She has clearly made it obvious that he is now her new favorite and he is using that to his advantage as well. I have tried addressing these issues I have with her privately, but the hostility towards me continues to intensify. I have recorded her on my cell phone of her mocking and talking very ill of me with another co-worker. I was wondering if it is legal to go to our coorperate boss and use that very vital piece of proof that I have against her. It's come to the point where I have become so over worked that I am not doing as well as I should in my studies at school, have become depressed and am considering quitting my job and changing majors all together.

-Fed up!

You definitely have an issue here. To answer the question that you asked, there is no reason why you should not go to your supervisor's boss with both the issue and the recording. (Preserve a copy first.) Depending on what happens, you may have grounds for a suit. I can't really tell you more without knowing more about what constituted the "sexual harassment" and the trash talk and when this all occurred. There are a few things that it may be useful for you to know before you take the issue higher. Call if you like. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
