Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
Hi: I have been working for a lawyer for the past 5 years. I normally work 80-86 hours every two weeks.
For the last year he has not been paying my whole salary on the books. He will pay 20 hours on the books and the rest off the books. My question is: If I were to get laid off would I be able to sue him personally?Because when I go to collect I will either get nothing or the very minium. And if he were paying my salary I
am entitiled to the maxium because of what I earn.
I have insisted to him that he start paying me properly but he claims that he does not show enough income
to do so. I am 100% certain that is a lie.

Wow. Your boss is dishonest, and that is a very bad thing. He is supposed to be an 'officer of the Court' and certainly cheating on taxes is a crime.
You may want to talk to an attorney about this. There are some serious problems here. And since you are aware of all of this, there may be some problems for YOU.
Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and I will go over this with you, and give you some advice.
