Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

working below min. wage w/o pay!

Hired as assembler to work at home. The work pans out to below min. wage. Also, promised ck. ''about once a month''. $250+ monies haven't been paid in over a month. Working as contractor, not employee. Owner says, not ready to pay yet. I want monies before I run! What can I do?

I'd get in contact with the NJ Dept of Labor, Wage and Hour Compliance, or the Federal Dept. of Labor and bring a complaint. You won't need to hire an attorney and the government will bring a claim on your behalf.
