If I have a written contract offer, that I accepted, can the company withdraw the offer, a day before I was supposed to start

No. If you have accepted the offer in the manner that the offer prescribes, it cannot thereafter be rescinded. Even if the employment is an employment at will, courts will frequently imply an initial term of employment (such as one year) if the employee has changed his or her position in reliance on the offer. Of course, some offers are conditional on satisfactory completion of background checks, etc. If the condidions are specified in the offer, then a failure to fulfill the condition will make the offer avoidable.
