Can an employee be fired after 14 years with a company because the employer finds out that they can't read or write

Depends on the circumstances. If you are an "at will" employee, then you can be terminated at any time (and for any lawful reason) regardless of how long you've been with the company.

It really depends on the facts. You may have been discriminated against based upon your disability. If you were with them that long and it didn't affect your job, you may have a lawsuit against them. Feel free to give us a call.
