Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
Access to Heat Controls
I live in a building that has two apartments. My neighbors have the thermostat in their apartment and control my heat along with theirs. Is this legal in NJ, or is the landlord required to give me access to the heat controls as well? When I signed my lease, I thought my landlord controlled the whole building. I didn't realize that I would be forced to deal with someone else controlling my comfort. They are often out late and turn the heat down until they get home which causes my apartment to be around 60 degrees in the evenings during the winter.

Re: Access to Heat Controls
Your landlord owes you the quiet enjoyment of the leased premises. You must act against the landlord.
You need the services of an attorney.
