Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
discarding property
I hope you can help me. Can you tell me how long I must leave an item (a jet-ski) on my property when my brother (the jetski owner) has promised to remove it for at least 3 years? He and I are no longer speaking and I wish it to be gone. My husband and I can not cut the grass in that area and we have a ground hog that we can't capture because the jetski is in the way. He has kept the jetski here free of charge but now we want it gone. How long must I wait until we discard it? He has made a ''craddle'' for it and that itslef is making gaping holes in our yard.
Thank you for your help.

Re: discarding property
Just send him a letter by certified mail advising him that should he fail to remove the item within a specific, reasonable amount of time that you will dispose of the item because it
appears that he has abandoned the item and no longer wants it.
After the time period stated in your letter has expired dispose of the item in the most convenient manner.
