Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Hello, me and my friends rented a house in Lake Como, NJ for the summer. We went all summer with little to no complaints and the last weekend the cops show up and 6:44am on a saturday to write us a ticket for overcrowding, the max occupancy level on the house was 3(on a 3 bedroom house), and they saw 6 cars in the driveway. They had the names of everyone on the lease except 1 because 4 of us signed the lease, but anyway one of my friends who was still drunk told them there were 9 people in the house and gave them a card that he got from his uncle who is a police officer and they told us they were letting us off with a warning, but that they would be back tomorrow. We got everyone out and there was only the 3 of us left for the weekend but today we got tickets in the mail. The question I have is is that legal and what can I do to fight it and B) we had 4 people on the lease but they only have 3 names so if they altered the lease after it was executed to have it fit their needs without telling us would that make our tenancy null and void, because they were operating under false pretences.

Please keep in mind that my response is just a general comment on your question, and not legal advice. Your question and any response does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and this law firm. The exact details of your situation and things that you have not mentioned in your question can completely change the answer to your question. You can not rely upon what I have written, because I do not have all of the information that I need to advise you, I only have the very small amount of information that you put into your question. For me to give you any legal advice, I would need for you to hire me to be your lawyer, and then we would need to discuss this in detail and go over the documents.

To get legal advice that you can rely on and use, please contact me directly. I would be happy to assist you.
