Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Illegal entry at night by maintainance man

I am a lone woman living in a low income, senior housing, with ''Security''.

Last night, I was in bed asleep, when a voice saying hello, hello woke me. I hollered out who is it the response was Zack from maintainance. He was in my apartment! 10:30 PM. ''What do you want'', I replied. ''The door on your mailbox was open and I brought your mail up.'' he said.'' Get out, I am not dressed'', I replied. ''Okay, I'll leave your mail on the hall chair'' then he left. I called the security desk and asked the guard why she had allowed this man to enter my apartment and she claimed she didn't know he was going to come in. I feel scared and violated, what legal steps can I take?

Re: Illegal entry at night by maintainance man

Start with a report to your local police department and a written complaint to senior management.

Good luck to you.
