Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

My name is James, my wife and I along with our 2 children ages 2 1/2 and 5 months have been living in a motel for 5 months now and have fallen behind on the rent. We do not have any type of lease or anything but er have no other place to go, and the owner wants us out without having to take the issue to court and without giving us any notice whatsoever. From what I have read online when it comes to motels/hotels, depending on the length of residency at the motel which in our case is 5 months, he cannot legally throw us out without giving us at least one months notice. And during that time we do not have to pay him any rent at all. This motel has 22 rooms and there is also about 6 or 7 of the people staying here have been here longer than 90 days. The motel I am staying at is in the state of NJ and in the town of Leonardo. I just want to know if what I have read is the truth or if this owner can legally throw us out without notice. We receive our mail at the motel and everything. The motels address is used by us as our permanent address for the time being. Any information would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you for your time.
