Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
My landlord is now bugging us about rent we did not pay in June 2014. We had withheld rent due to 3 1/2 years of repairs on the rental. We tried and contacted her over 20 times. The president of the association tried as well and she never wanted to call back. So we had no choice but to fix them. It was over $2000 in repairs. She thinks its a joke. Now after over 4 years of being here now she wants to contact us on every little thing that comes to money and still wants us to pay for june 2014. Do we have to pay her for that month. She has all receipts for the repairs.

Depending on the nature of the issues, and if appropriate notice was given under the lease you may not have to. The problems in question have to affect the habitability of the unit. For example heat problems, electrical problems, plumbing problems, leaks, infestation and a host of other issues. If she wants to get June, 2014 rent from you, she's going to have to sue.
