A landlord may not make a residential premises uninhabitable in order to get a tenant to pay rent. It amounts to a "constructive eviction" and the court may penalize the landlord for doing it. It is possible that you can have the situation corrected at little cost to you. If you contact me and can supply some details, I will try to help.
