Landlord/Tenant - Lock Out

My family and I has been locked out of our previous apartment since 0ct. 2008. He is not allowing us to obtain our belongs out of the apartment. He ignores our calls and messages. What options we have in obtaining our property?

If you were evicted after an action in landlord/tenant court you can go back to landlord/tenant court. If you were simply locked out of your apartment by the landlord without his filing in the landlord tenant court regain possession of the apartment you were illegally locked out and are entitled to regain possessio of your apartment. Go to the landlord tenant court for relief. You should call the court before you go.

You will need to file a lawsuit for the loss of value of the property claiming a violation of the NJ Abandoned Property Statute.
