Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

language not in lease agreement

My 1 year lease was over and I was in a month to month agreement. I moved from my apartment to another state due to a job transfer, without giving 30 days notice instead I gave 10 days notice. The lease agreement did not state I was required to give 30 days written notice. If the lease agreement does not state I am required to give 30 days notice, am I in fact required to do so and am I entitled to receive all of my security deposit?

Re: language not in lease agreement

After your one year lease expired, you became a month to month tenant. You are required to give 30 days (really a full month's notice) to your landlord if you are leaving. If you give 10 days notice, your landlord will have a right to apply the security deposit towards rent.
