Is it legal to charge a section 8 tenant the initial 50 dollar late fee them 10 dollars a day until its paid?

Yes and no. It’s is a legal provision as a late fee, assuming it’s reasonable. However you can’t collect it as a fee in an eviction action under federal law. You would have to bring a separate civil action.
