Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

I live in nj and I Rented my home out , I am back on my feet and would ,Ike to move back in . I gave my tenant a. Verbal notice ( October 2015 ) and now a "notice to quit" and vacate April, 2016 . I Intend to live there . Am I on the right track ?
