Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
My mother recently passed away. My sister and I talked to the property manager of her apartment to see if we can rent her apartment for another month to clear out her belongings. He proceded to say we are liable to continue to pay her rent through April which is the end of her lease. Is that true?

No. New Jersey statute provide that the personal representative of a decedent's estate can terminate a lease early.
