Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
My parents own a townhouse in Pompton Lakes, NJ. However, I live there and responsible to pay the Mortgage, Property Taxes, Maintenance fees along with the all other utilities fees.To help pay for everything I rent out the extra bedroom. When I was looking for a new roommate (conversation started on 10/9/2012)I told her I never have gatherings (or parties) at the townhouse and I'm not dating anyone. I met my current boyfriend on 12/7/2012. (After 2 weeks of talking we started dating.) She moved in 12/9/2012. The first time my boyfreind stayed over was 12/22/2012. After this day my boyfriend was staying over on weekends. The roommate abrutly left on 1/7/2013. Now the ex roommate is bring me to small claims court stating I lied about the living arrangements. Can she sue me for getting a boyfriend?
