I need out of a realestate broker rental lease

I gave the broker the security check for the apt. The landlord appears to be slum lord. He keeps telling me that he is going to fix things before 4/1/08. But no crew has been their ..How can I get out of the lease before I end up in a headache. It took the landlord almost 2 wks to sign. no city inspection has been done also.

There are two more things that you need to know before anyone can tell what your best course of action might be. First, find out whether the apartment is registered with the municipality as a rental unit. Secondly, find out whether there is a certificate of occupancy that covers the apartment.
