Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
rent increase before lease ends
There is/was a large property tax increase in my town and in turn, the landlord is passing on some of that to us in our monthly rent. We got a notice for when this was to begin, however it is still before our 1 year lease ends. I do not have the lease readily available, but I was wondering----is there a general rule that if the taxes go up the LL can pass it along to the tenant at any time (and doesnt have to wait for the annual lease renewal)? or is it only if that policy is stated in the signed lease?
Thank you!

It is all a matter of what the lease says.
