Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

rent increase on new leasean extra 300.00 because we called board of health

we have been living here for 17 years ,our landlord is not a good one .last year the roof fell in and she wanted us to stay.we left but only me and my sons came back after we called the health department so she would do repairs.she said we were evicted ,she never showed up for court .we stayed ,rent has always been up to date.says she doesn't want us here and if we stay she will raise rent 300.00.2 days before xmas 2005,yes afew days ago .we recieved a new lease raising the rent 300.00 or vacate.i went to call my lawyer only to find out that she's using him against me.i retained him last year to go to court with me for her eviction.i don't know what else to do .i am not going to stay because of further harassment that i know will never stop and also that 300.00 retaliation money.do i need another lawyer to go over this lease ? thank you

You should definitely have an attorney review the lease.

It sounds like the landlord may be in breach.
