Rental security deposit

My partner and I rent an apartment in NJ. She has died and left no will. Can I claim her half of the deposit?

The landlord should return the security deposit to the "tenant" which is you. However, your partner's estate may have an interest in all or a part of the deposit depending on who provided the funds and when and why any deductions were made.
