Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Roomate

I have a roomate who has admitted to stealing money from me. I have constantly called the agency hired to manage the building about the constant problems with this person. Now last night this person almost burned the apt down. Apparantly something was left cooking on the stove, the fire dept was called. I need to know how to evict this person, the agency just keeps telling me that these are personal problems between us & they have nothing to do with it. This is now a matter of my safety & the safety of others; what can I do?

Re: Roomate

The management company is right. You could break your lease and move out. You can't bring an eviction against yourself.

Re: Roomate

I should go to the police and report the theft. As for your landlord you should hire an attorney to deal with the landlord. A letter warning of a lawsuit and explaining what it has to lose should help you.

Call me if you like.
