Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

my roomate refuses/cannot pay rent

I live in an apartment in newark, nj essex cty. I have a roomate who cannot/will not pay their half of the rent. I found out that they were served with a notice of eviction to go to court; how will this effect me? I have always paid my share, & although both names are on the lease, only one persons name is on the summons & complaint. When I questioned the Real est. company they told me only one persons name could appear on the s & c; but how was I supposed to know all of this was going on when the mail had been taken & I am not even sure of the actual date to appear in court, and again like I said I always paid my share on time. What will happen to me?

If you do nothing, you might very likely be evicted.
