Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Roommate refuses to pay rent

My roommate and I have signed a 1 year lease as of July 1st. Since we signed my roommate has refused to pay her half of the rent for Aug and now again refuses to pay for Sept. Both of our names are on the lease. Am I able to kick her out of the apartment for failure to pay her half of the rent?

Re: Roommate refuses to pay rent

someone better pay the rent, or the landlord will file a suit to kick you out, then sue you for whatever money the landlord loses.

your roommate better shape up.

exactly what to do is not so clear. a lot of things may affect it. does this rommmate have a job?
