Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

hi!! here is my situation. i currently living in a apartment complex, after 3 yrs of living in a 2 BR apt. i request to be transfered to a town house which they granted.3 weeks later i recieved a letter containing the amount i have to pay for the old apt.they saying that i need to pay for carpet replacement,painting,cleaning the oven and for clearing the cable wires . first the has 2 minor burn marks in it beside that just a normal wear, second the painting we cleaned the walls before we moved out nothing major dirt or stain on the wall samething with the oven we and last the cable wires, i never heard anything about tenant being charge for not clearing the cable wires.can i fight these?what is the best thing to do?maybe you can give us some advice.thank you...

If you believe the amounts deducted are not justified, then you have a right to sue the landlord and argue about the proper deductions (if any). Be prepared to supply the judge with proper proofs which may include pictures of your former unit and estimates of proper costs of repair.
