Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey
Summons to Court.
I signed a lease with my son. I'm only the cosigner. He lives in the appartment. He paid June rent. I have his proof. He received a letter from an attorney stating he is
being sued for June rent. Can they take him to court and
evict him although this month has just begun? Please advise and thanks.

Re: Summons to Court.
Something does not add up here. If he paid, his landlord certainly would not pay a lawyer to demand payment again. If you signed on the lease, then you can be sued for any unpaid rent and other amounts owed on the lease. Have you called the attorney to ask him what is going on?
If you would like, give me a call to set up an appointment; I am in northern New Jersey. The consultation may be free, speak to me and I will let you know ahead of time. I will do what I can to help you out.
